Everyone loves an easy and inexpensive DIY. Creating a simple farmhouse vintage inspired sign is something you can easily do.
When I found this wooden sign CHEAP at the thrift store, I saw potential. The “front” is etched wood, but I knew I could flip it over and create a new sign on the back.
A quick coat of white paint and I was ready to add the lettering.
I used my Silhouette to cut out the words PRODUCE and CORN
The chippy worn look is perfect if you are going for the true vintage look.
My tip to achieve that look, add the stencil onto the base layer soon after it dries.
This doesn’t give it a complete chance to adhere to the wood. When you rip off the stencil it will pull some of the white base coat off.
You can see in the finished sign below it is more than just sanded it has missing sections of paint.
It was EXACTLY what I was going for.
I hung the sign on the door cabinet under my DIY corn husk wreath.
Stay tuned for that DIY on Monday.
