What is a girl to do when COVID-19 hits and you and your family are stuck at home? We needed some summer fun activities?
I went online and looked and looked for an inflatable hot tub. There were not many to be found , but the ones that were available were INSANELY priced.
If you have been following along for awhile you know I wasn’t going to pay a crazy price. I had to wait awhile for the price to come down. We finally got our hot tub in September.
We set it up and used it all winter as a cozy warm retreat, but when it started to get warm I wanted to focus more on summer and use it more as a tiny pool.
We chose this area off the deck to place the hot tub. It needed its own outlet and this was the best spot to make that work. Also this area of our yard is fairly flat. We only needed a few bags of sand to level the are and prepare it for the set up.
YES, this spot was a HOT MESS for a HOT TUB! I don’t have a lot of before pictures. Here you can see where we created the surround. I love this galvanized look. It completly vibes with my farmhouse decor.
We happen to have this old rusty metal (of course we did) behind our shed. I had been saving it for the perfect project and I think this worked.
Once the surround was complete, we finished the landscaping. 10 cubic yards of mulch was all we needed!
Ok ok I know that is a lot. It wasn’t only for the hot tub area, but the other flower beds also.
Now let’s talk about the decor. That is always the best part, the icing on the cake so to speak.
When I originally started planning the designs, I was thinking whites, grays and woods.
HOWEVER, once the heat started my mind shifted to bright colors and specifically FLAMINGOS!
A trip to 5 Below was what I needed for inspiration. I found the adorable Turkish towels for only $5 They were too cute to not grab.
Flamingos were needed to add just a bit more fun and color! This cutie is a raft ring toy. Just perfect to float in the center.
AND ONE LAST DETAIL…. that wicker dresser!!! Sure you’re saying “why in the heck would you put a wicker dresser outside?” I will tell you why, it was only $10. When I saw it at Goodwill the colors and the price were perfect. My thought is use it a few years, try to protect it and ENJOY!
I hope I have you some inexpensive ideas of how you can create a fun space for your family.
