Ever find a perfect piece, but it just needed some TLC? Have you left a piece behind because you just didnt know what you would do? Let me show you how I transformed a thrifted find with nothing but paint.
When I found this piece I knew she had good bones, but she just didn’t fit my color scheme. I loved the wood drawers but the burgandy had to go!
This piece had been used to store nuts and screws. It needed a good scrub down. So I took it outside and got to work. First thing I did was remove all the drawers.
Nothing like some Dawn detergent and the water hose!
Once they were clean I made sure I got them all back into the right spot. Sometimes with a handmade piece this can be tricky. I wont lie, it took a little bit of work to get them all back in.
I let the cutie dry in the sun and then I got to work painting it. I used Dixie Bell paint in Fluff. It took a couple of coats per drawer. I only painted the burgandy drawers. The frame of this piece is metal. I loved it so I left it alone. Oh and those beautiful wood drawers were not touched. I mean look at that patina.
I am thrilled with the way it turned out. This piece fits perfect in my front entryway. I am using it now to store some of my vintage paper collection.
Do you have a piece you have made perfect with nothing but paint? I would love to hear all about it.
