Would you walk right pass this at a thrift store?
Some will say YES and some will say HECK NO! I spotted this simple wood dresser at one of my local Goodwill stores and I had visions of what it COULD be!
My dream piece of furniture would be an authentic card catalogue. I think most farmhouse style thrifters would totally agree with me. HOWEVER, you don’t exactly walk into a thrift store and see one sitting there waiting for you. One day I hope I will.
When I saw this one with the two drawers, pre cut to appear to be 4 drawers, the idea hit me. What if I cut all the drawers to look like multiple? What if I added card catalogue style pulls on all of those little drawers? Maybe, just maybe I could create my own card catalogue cabinet!!
I had to call in my hubby for help on this one. He is the math genius behind this operation.
You know what they say about cutting wood, measure twice cut once. You can not go back and fix that. I had to make sure we were right on.
Once we got them all lined up, I started the painting process. I sprayed the entire thing with General Finishes Milk Paint in Snow White
I am in love with my new sprayer from Wagner Flexio 3000. If you are considering purchasing a sprayer I would highly recommend this one. It is super easy to use, clean and isn’t to expensive.
Once I put the primer on I realized I forgot to patch the holes where the old hardware was….opps! No big deal, I just went ahead and did it before I painted the white coats.
This is the hardware I am going to add once the cutie is all painted. I ordered it from Amazon. I wanted this larger size and they had just what I liked and it was affordable.
I distressed the entire thing around each corner, adding to the effect of multiple drawers.
Adding the hardware just finished it off perfectly! I was so excited, I couldn’t wait to take it inside.
So how did I do? I am pretty happy with it! Now would you pass that dresser up at the thrift store?
